The Map page offers a simplified, two-dimensional view of your workspace, making it easy to manage vehicles, drivers, and landmarks. It includes two map tabs: Current and History.
The Current tab—also known as the Live Map—provides real-time visibility into your fleet. Vehicle/Asset and Driver locations and statuses update instantly as changes occur, ensuring you always have the most up-to-date information at a glance.
The History tab lets you review your fleet’s past activity directly on the map. You can explore trip history, camera events (if applicable), and use location playback to view vehicle movement within specific timeframes or landmark boundaries, providing valuable insights into past operations.
The Driver feature is only available to Enterprise customers and customers with the Advanced Administration add-on. If you are interested in learning more, please contact your Account Manager.
Viewing the Map
You can view Map Cards by clicking on a vehicle, landmark, asset, or driver directly from the map or the list on the left-hand side.
For a quick glance, simply hover your mouse over map objects—such as vehicles, landmarks, or assets—to view a pop-over with key information, without opening the full Map Card.
The pop-over displays an address when one is associated with the pin point. If the pin point does not have an associated address (e.g., pin-point is moving along a road, etc.,), the pop-over displays latitude and longitude coordinates instead.
Depending on the object, the pop-over may also include action buttons, allowing you to perform certain tasks directly from the pop-over. Please refer to the table below for a list of available pop-overs and corresponding available actions.
Disabling Pop-Overs
To disable pop-overs on the Map, go to Map Preferences and uncheck the boxes for Vehicle and Asset Popovers, Landmark Popovers, and/or History Trail Popovers.
Current Tab Pop-Overs
A user must have the View/Edit Landmarks permission and enable the Map Preference “Show by default: Landmark labels” to edit and/or send a dispatch from the Landmark pop-over.

Users can choose either Diagnostic (supported devices only) or Calculated as the engine hours data source. This allows you to easily identify which data source is in use, control where your data is coming from, and ensure complete transparency and confidence in the information provided.
The system automatically prioritizes diagnostic engine hours but seamlessly falls back to calculated hours when diagnostic data is unavailable.
Supported Devices
The following devices support Diagnostic Engine Hours:
Users can choose Diagnostic or Calculated as the engine hours data source for individual vehicles within the Edit Vehicle drawer, accessible from a vehicle's Vehicle Card on the Map page. Each option displays the current engine hours reading, providing full visibility into the data before a selection is made.
Note: If a user changes the data source, that does not impact any historical data contained in applicable reports; however, a user repeatedly changing the data source within a short amount of time may lead to data inaccuracies in reports.
Understanding the Data Sources
Please review the table below for descriptions of the Diagnostic and Calculated engine hours data sources.
Source
Description
Waypoint Eligible
Diagnostic
Hours recorded directly by the engine’s control module (ECM/ECU), representing the engine’s true runtime.
❌
Calculated
Calculated hours based on total engine-on time since installation.
✅ A waypoint can be added to adjust the baseline, and the system will continue adding run time.
How to Select an Engine Hours Data Source
Note: You can also make a data source selection from the Edit drawer of a vehicle from the Admin: Vehicles tab (permissions required).
From the Map page, locate the vehicle you would like to manage using the Search field, Vehicles List, or by clicking on the vehicle directly on the Map.
The Vehicle Card opens on the right-hand side of the screen.
Click Edit from the Vehicle Card Header.
The Edit vehicle drawer opens.
Scroll down to the Mileage & Engine Hours section.
Under "Engine Hours Data Source", make your selection by clicking the button next to Diagnostic Engine Hours or Calculated Engine Hours.
Click Save changes.
A pop-up appears at the top right corner of the screen to confirm that your change was saved successfully.
Entering an Engine Hours Waypoint
If you have selected Calculated Engine Hours as the vehicle's engine hours data source, you can add a waypoint if you believe the engine hours reading is inaccurate. Adding a waypoint adjusts the baseline, and the system will continue to add run time afterward according to your selected data source.
How to Enter an Engine Hours Waypoint
Note: You can also enter an engine hours waypoint from the Edit drawer of a vehicle from the Admin: Vehicles tab (permissions required).
Scroll down to the Mileage & Engine Hours section, then enter the waypoint under "Engine Hours."
Note: Calculated engine hours must be selected to enter a waypoint. Waypoints cannot be entered if your data source is Diagnostic Engine Hours; the Engine Hours field will appear greyed out.
Click Save changes.
A pop-up appears at the top right corner of the screen to confirm that your change was saved successfully.
The Universal Odometer Algorithm is a unified system that automatically selects the most reliable odometer data source—diagnostic, trip-based, or GPS-based—to ensure the most accurate and consistent mileage reporting possible.
The system will intelligently switch between three possible data sources:
Diagnostic Odometer (Preferred): Used when valid diagnostic data is available. This is considered the most accurate source and aligns closely with the vehicle’s dashboard.
Trip-Based Odometer (Fallback): Activated when diagnostic values stop reporting, become erratic, or contain errors. It continues to track mileage based on trip data until diagnostic input resumes.
GPS-Based Odometer (Last Resort): Used only if neither diagnostic nor trip-based data is available, ensuring mileage continues to update in all scenarios.
As soon as a valid diagnostic odometer value is received, the system automatically switches back to diagnostic inputs.
This new algorithm applies to all device types except Geotab, Numerex, Orbcomm, and GPSI Mobile. Those devices will continue to use their existing odometer handling. If you have any questions about your device type, please contact your Account Manager.
Accessing Odometer Information
Odometer data can be accessed in the Odometer section of a vehicle's Vehicle Card on the Map page or the Vehicle details drawer on the Admin: Vehicles tab (permissions required).
The Odometer section provides a transparent and trackable waypoint (odometer reading entry) management experience, featuring enhanced logging with user attribution, an at-a-glance history of odometer changes, and clear differentiation between system-generated and manual adjustments. Users can view detailed before-and-after values for each change[whitelabel tier="gpsi"], along with direct access to the comprehensive Odometer History Detail report[/whitelabel] within the vehicle details page.
How to Access Odometer Information
From the Map Page, click on a vehicle to open the Vehicle Card, then scroll down on the Overview tab to “Odometer” or from the Admin: Vehicles tab, click on the vehicle's name (under the Vehicle Name column) to open the Vehicle details drawer, then scroll down to "Odometer."
Hover your mouse over the info icon next to "More odometer details" to view the Odometer Information hoverbox.
The Odometer Information hoverbox appears, providing the following information:
Odometer Data Source: Diagnostic, Trip-Based, or GPS-Based

Maintenance Tab
The Maintenance tab allows you to track vehicle services through services due and services completed logs. You can monitor and create vehicle services using the Maintenance Page directly from this tab.
To manage services due and completed services, please see Vehicle Card – Vehicle Maintenance.
Nearby Tab
Nearby lists offer sorted lists of nearby assets and landmarks closest to the selected vehicle displaying by closest to farthest in miles. You may click on any of the listed assets/landmarks to view the corresponding Vehicle/Landmark Card.
This list can be especially useful if you are looking to dispatch one asset to another and would like to dispatch the closest appropriate asset possible. To do so, use the Send Dispatch function on the Vehicle Card and enter in the asset's Vehicle ID for "Location to Send" and the closest appropriate asset's Vehicle ID for "Send this location to the following recipient(s)" or vice versa, depending on your need. See the instructions under Sending a Dispatch for additional information.

Feature, Description
Search~~,(Located above the Map Toolbar.) Enter a search term for a vehicle\, alert\, report\, landmark\, [glossary slug="Google Places"]place[/glossary]\, address\, or latitude and/or longitude coordinate (separated by a comma).
Drop Pin~~,Place a pin on a map and move it as needed by dragging-and-dropping it to any location. You can then quickly dispatch to/from this location\, find the closest vehicle\, obtain lat/lon coordinates and physical address\, or create a landmark for repeated use.
Trails~~,Display one hour history trails on the map for all selected vehicles.~~~~
Landmarks~~,Display landmarks on the map.~~~~
Clusters~~,Represent more than one vehicle in a similar location with a clustered circle. Clusters provide enhanced clarity when viewing a bird's eye view of a map with a large number of vehicles. As you zoom in and vehicles appear farther apart\, clusters update accordingly. The number in a cluster's center indicates the vehicles included\, and the ring around the cluster indicates the statuses of the clustered vehicles. Colors correspond to the map legend (To view in the Portal, click More > Map Legend or see About Vehicles).~~~~~~~~
Use the Plus / Minus options to adjust the aggressiveness (sizing of the clusters).~~~~
Traffic~~,Identify the speed of traffic on the road compared to free-flowing conditions. For highways\, green means there is a normal speed of traffic. The more red the road becomes\, the slower the speed of traffic on the road. Gray indicates there is no data available.~~~~
Center~~,Automatically re-size and re-adjust the current zoom level of the map to include all vehicles in the view.
Points of Interest~~,Shows restaurants\, businesses\, parks\, parking\, and other points of interest.
Full Screen~~,Expand the map full screen.

3D Maps
3D Maps allow you to interact with your fleet's status and location data on a three-dimensional mapping plane. 3D Maps require Google Earth, which is a free software download provided by Google. The installation is optional and complies with the terms of service for Google Maps/Earth. Once installed, Google Earth automatically launches whenever you invoke a 3D mapping option from within the portal.
The portal saves a KML file to your computer's default download location each time you request a 3D map. The KMZ and KML file extensions should be associated with the Google Earth application automatically after installation of Google Earth. If Google Earth does not open automatically after you request a 3D map from the portal, locate and right-click the downloaded KML file, click "Open With," and choose Google Earth from the list of programs. Ensure the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" check box is selected.

[post_content] => Google Earth overlays allow you to add your own images on top of the regular, 3D maps.
Example
XYZ Company delivers heating/cooling equipment to residential destinations. Local delivery rates are calculated by predefined zones. The owner wants to interact with his truck’s GPS data in relation to their zoning map.
Locate the region on the map that roughly corresponds to the custom overaly image.
Click Add > Image Overlay.
From the Google Earth - New Image Overlay window, enter a Name for the overlay.
Click Browse. Locate the location where your overlay image is saved, and double-click it.
The image is added on top of the map. (You may need to move the Google Earth - New Image Overlay window to see the map. Keep the Google Earth - New Image Overlay window open.)
From the map, resize the image as needed to more precisely correspond with the region on the map.
Move the overlay by dragging the cross-hairs (center of the image). Resize the overlay by dragging the corners. Drag the Transparency slider in the New Image Overlay window to adjust how the overlay appears on the map.
When satisfied with the overlaydimensions and coordinates, click OK.
From the Places pane, right-click the new overlay name, and click Save Place As.
In the Save File window, browse to the directory where you want to save the KMZ file, and click Save.
To import a Google Earth overlay into the portal:
From the portal, hover over the Mapping menu, click Manage Overlays, and click Edit Overlays.
The Google Earth Overlays page opens in a new browser tab.
From the Manage KML Overlays grid, click Choose File.
In the Open window, browse to the location where you saved your KMZ file. Select the file, and click Open.
Click Update Now.
A success message appears to indicate the save was successful. Now other portal users on your account can download and use the overlay within Google Earth:
If you have a need to view multiple and/or toggle ESRI overlays (e.g., routes or manholes) within 2D maps in the portal, contact your Account Manager.
