Vehicle Class Frequently Asked Questions
Please review the following answers to frequently asked questions about the Vehicle Class feature.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Will Vehicle Class automatically update for existing vehicles? | No. Existing vehicles will keep their current configurations. Users can manually update Vehicle Class for individual vehicles or use a bulk upload (available to Enterprise customers or customers with the Advanced Administration Add-on) to apply changes across their fleet. |
| Can I create my own custom Vehicle Classes? | Not at this time. The available options are Light-duty, Medium-duty, and Heavy-duty. However, users can still customize g-force thresholds to fit unique needs. |
| Automated Vehicle Class from Vehicle Registration – Is this the same as full VIN decoding? | No. Vehicle Class detection uses supported data and standards to classify vehicles by type, but it’s not a complete VIN decoding service that includes make, model, or weight details. |
| Will thresholds automatically adjust if I change the Vehicle Class later? | Yes, users can change the Vehicle Class at a later time after vehicle registration, and the system will update the configuration of the device based upon the Vehicle Class chosen. |
| Does Vehicle Class affect other configurations, like maintenance or fuel settings? | No. Vehicle Class only impacts g-force thresholds for driving behavior events. Other configurations remain unchanged. |
